MAIN CHURCH HALL

18th-century grade II* listed church growing its reputation as a live music venue. Past acts performing in this 1400-capacity venue: Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Hidden Orchestra, Jessie Ware, Cat Power, Emeli Sande, Purity Ring, Jamie XX, Bonnie Prince Billy, Nils Frahm, Anna Calvi with Heritage Orchestra.

Suitable for live and electronic acts, and classical. St John’s is home to alt-music endeavour St John Sessions Stylistically the church features huge windows which allow rays of natural sunlight into the building. “The coolest church in North London” (Loving Dalston)

The church has large parking facilities (20+ car spaces) and also has a public car park with a meter either side of the front door. We also have a very large plot of private grounds (approx 200 sq metres)

The venue is used for wedding receptions and was listed as the top 5 most beautiful wedding venues in London. Other popular uses of St John’s include themed events, ceilidhs, art exhibitions, fashion shows, birthdays, etc. We also host an annual summer fete and winter market in our beautiful grounds.

Accessibility: St John at Hackney is working towards bronze status for venue accessibility. We have a disabled access ramp and we can accommodate carer tickets. However, we do not always have a disabled viewing platform at gigs and concerts. We have a partial accessible toilet backstage which serves well for most wheelchair users however it does need some improvements to reach bronze status. Please contact the Venue Manager with any queries about accessibility.

St John at Hackney is licensed for selling alcohol and live entertainment. Our licensing hours are 6pm until 11pm. Extensions must be administered by the Venue Manager but they are only issued as temporary event notices with 499 persons or under and are rarely approved.

HURDMAN HALL

Side hall adjacent to the main church hall with a capacity of 50-80. Suitable for meetings, small parties, wakes. Can also operate as a second music room in a live event. The hall comes with a professional kitchen, tables and chairs and a bouncy castle. Hire rate is £30 per hour
