WHY SHOULD I GET MARRIED IN A CHURCH?
There are many reasons why you should get married in a church but here are a few. A church wedding will add a spiritual dimension to your marriage. The ceremony includes God and looks to Him for help and guidance.
God’s blessing is the main attraction for many couples, whatever their beliefs. You can make amazing vows, or promises, in a church. God and your church are there for you to help you keep your vows.

Imagine all the couples who have married in St John’s, some of whom may well be your family. You can feel you’re becoming part of history itself, the bigger plan, by marrying in the same place as your relatives. We know these sorts of connections can make your day even more special.

CAN I GET MARRIED AT ST JOHN-AT-HACKNEY?
Basically, if you live in the parish of St John-at-Hackney, or if you regularly attend worship here and are named on the Electoral Roll, then yes, of course you can.

If you want to know whether you live in St John at Hackney parish, please type your postcode in at the following web address: www.london.anglican.org/ChurchFinder

In addition, a new law passed in 2008 means that anyone who has had a previous connection with St John’s may also get married here. For a full list of the changes in the Law in 2008, please see: www.yourchurchwedding.org

MUSIC AT MY WEDDING

Weddings over the centuries have included everything from classical soloist to rock bands. We will be able to advise you, whether you want a traditional wedding or something with a bit of a difference. We have a wonderful network of professional musicians we can recommend to you, or we will happily welcome your guest musicians and ideas. Why not include our spectacular pip organ in your ceremony or our resident steel band, or enhance your grand entrance with a peal of our bells.

COST
The standard cost of a wedding in 2010 is £260 This pays for all the legal fees. In addition if you would like the bells rung on the big day, or would like the organ played, you will be paying for professional services. Currently the organ fee is £80 and the bells £160. We can also organise flowers.
In addition, we also ask for a returnable deposit for the wedding day.  In 2010 this has been set at £250.  This is to ensure that weddings start at the appropriate time.  If the wedding begins within 20 minutes of the advertised time, the deposit is returned.  If the wedding begins after this time, the deposit is retained.
All fees are due at the wedding rehearsal at the latest.
