Another year has passed and Christian Aid continues to play its full role in the life of St John at Hackney Church. As usual CA continues to be fully supported by the church's clergy, as we fully support CA Week in May doing street collections, sponsored walks and envelope collections in CA Week in May and at Christmas. CA Week in May is correctly a focus point in the church charity calendar but it must be remembered that CA is a three hundred and sixty-five days a year charity reacting to disasters small and large year round. Our church accepts donations for CA year round, please speak to me or a member of clergy for further information.

Occasionally major disasters happen as was the case in Haiti, which suffered earthquake damage last year and also major flooding in Pakistan also in 2010. In these cases CA became part of the Disasters Emergency Committee ie DEC as such disasters are too major for any one charity to deal with. When this occurs the DEC targets the problem for at least six months. When an incident occurs where the DEC is called into play, we can donate via the church in the traditional way, via our church website, please follow the links to CA and also usually via the banks.
